Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Does this have anything to do with bars... or camping?
A: Not at all. The name arose as an open-to-the-public alternative to Foo Camp, which is an invitation-only conference.
Q: How much does it cost?

A: Nothing! Barcamp is completely free and open to the public. Invite all your friends and share the experience with them!

Q: What are the session topics?
A: Attendees propose their own session ideas on the day of the event. Topics lean towards a tech and creative audience, but ‘kitchen sink’ talks are fine. Sales and promotional or recruiting presentations are not allowed.
Q: Do I have to give a talk?

A: Nope! We encourage everyone to participate in whatever way they are most comfortable. We want you to talk/present if you have something you're passionate and knowledgeable about, but if you don't have anything, just volunteer a bit! If a talk in one room isn’t of interest to you, feel free to join another session or sit out and network. If you’re giving a talk, don’t worry if people leave the room, just keep going.

Q: What should I bring?
A: Notebook, pen, a few bucks if you plan to drink, a friend, and a laptop if you plan to talk.
